Bybye Bangkok !

Ok, En francais pour changer, the brits will have to wait till the end of the post :)

bisous

Right, now, the English speakers !

Everything is going well, I'm now in Ayuthaya (http://www.google.co.th/search?hl=en&q=ayuthaya&meta=)... So much more relax and pleasant than bangkok.. people are actually nice and friendly here and don't try to con you at every opportunity !

Since my last post, I visited the shopping area of bangkok (taking the skytrain and the bus boat.. very cool).. my god these guys know about shopping.. they're mad !!, I walked on the bridge of the river kwai (yes the one from the film) of the death railway (built by the japanese during the war using prisoners of wars and killings 10s of 1000s of people (thier engineers planned 5 years for the 400 km railway, they built it in 8 months.... ), visited a floating market (not that exciting as it was just for tourist, but good fun anyway), visited the largest bagoda in the world, took the bus in bangkok (you have to litteraly JUMP on it as it doesn't always stop !, took the train in 3rd class (!), went clubbing in a thai club with some thais (my god their pop is bad).. oh and I have the mobile number of my future wife (met on the train, third class !)

This evening is my second in Ayuthaya. It is the old Thai capital. I arrived here yesterday with a guy I met through other people in bangkok. He's been on the road for 5 or 6 years and has done most of asia... Great fun, he's also very good at showing me the ropes, so all good !

The town is tiny, but we managed to find a backpacker area (50 meters of a corner of a street), staying in a nice guesthouse with the friendliest people I have met yet ! It's not very busy (we are in the low season... mind you it doesn't rain at all so not sure why !!)

The main attraction of the town is the collection of temples with a Kmher influance, dating back 500 to 700 years... We rented bikes to visit the town.. it was brilliant, the traffic was manageable and most temples where within easy reach of each other.. AND it kept us cool.. loved it !! This evening, we're probably going to hang about in the bar we were in last night, hoping that we don't end up clubbing again !

Tomorrow, ben is going back to bangkok and I'm probably going to Lopburi (http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=lopburi&toggle=1&ei=UTF-8&fr=FP-tab-web-t-296), not quite sure how to go there, but I'll work it out tomorrow. .. On top of being known for its temples, the town is well known for its gangs of monkeys walking around town the the temples.. great fun apparently, I'll just have to watch my stuff !!

All in all, everything is good, the heat and humidity don't bother me too much, the food is good, I'm starting to get a tad more adventurous and didn't get the 'shits' yet :) Oh and for those who know thailand, I am definitely off the Chang beer, worst hangover ever and being sick all night convinced me on the second night !!

Photos are coming, haven't had time/opportunity to download any of them, but hoping to do so in the next few days/next week.. I'll keep you posted !

Hope you're all good. losts of bisous
