Happy Diwali everyone !!!
It's the Indian equivalent to Christmas.. In fact it's the festival of lights.. which means most houses and flats are decorated with what we would call christmas lights (outside mostly, as far as I can make out)... and are lighting candles this evening...
On top of that, it's been a week where everyone has been lighting firecrackers and fireworks.. all evening, till late in the nite (thank GOD for those earplugs).. and tonight, it's BAGHDAD... oh my god, it doesnt stop, everywhere.. and more candles.. it's actually really pretty.
Even the office got decorated with flowers, we had a christmas, no Diwali meal (I didn't know the difference between it and a regular meal.. but indian food is so varied that i eat somethign different every day anyway !!).. and my female colleagues came in saris the men in kurtas (the long traditional shirt.. looks quite cool actually).. the women were beautiful.. *sigh* i wish i could wear one too *sigh* (actually, i don't know about that, apparently it takes forever to put on and its very uncomfortable.. but hell it looks good !!
Otherwise, I'm settling slowly... Starting to meet people a bit, contacts of contacts of contacts.. I'm off to a Diwali party tonight, but some french people.. should be fun.
Work has really kicked in, so haven't had much time to do much else.
OH MY GOD, as i'm writing this, Delhi has turned into Baghdad... it just doesnt stop... explosions everywhere non stop.. people have lit even more candles.. i can hear some people singing in their houses... it's very cool :)
I have to be brief as i have to get ready.. but tomorrow I'm off to Jaipur to see the Monkey temple.. so expect FINALLY some photos next time.
Hope you are all good !
lots of love my friends
